RMA & Co is pleased to announce the establishment of its new office in Karachi, Pakistan. Our new office in Karachi will be headed by Mr Basil Nabi Malik.
Basil is admitted as an Attorney at Law in New York State and as an Advocate High Court in Pakistan. He completed his B.A.-LL.B. from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and LL.M. from Columbia University as a Fulbright Scholar. Prior to joining RMA & Co, Basil was a Partner at a leading law firm in Karachi.
Basil has, with around ten years of experience, a strong expertise in dispute resolution (litigation and arbitration). He specialises in constitutional matters, commercial disputes, and intellectual property laws. He has appeared before the Sindh High Court in cases of constitutional importance and has, on behalf of his clients, challenged the vires of various laws such as the Gas Infrastructure Development Cess Act, 2015, the MBBS and BDS (Admissions, House Job and Internship) Regulations, 2016, and Sindh Travel Agencies Act, 2011.
Basil is regularly engaged in banking, commercial, and shipping cases. In addition, Basil has a strong civil law practice covering anti-dumping laws, labour and employment matters, taxation, election disputes, corporate governance, and competition law. He has also successfully represented various clients in white-collar criminal litigation, including bail proceedings in relation to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and Anti-Terrorism offences.
